1.      Outcome Orientation

2. Behavioural Flexibility

The mouse had an outcome in mind, but it’s behaviour was failing to achieve it, but instead of recognising this, it just kept doing the same thing. If you keep doing the same thing, you will get the same result. Einstein one said that the definition of madness was “to do the same thing over, and expect a different result.”

The key is to be able to change your behaviour until you obtain the results that you want. One of the things that stops us is the fear of it going wrong, the fear of failure, this is usually linked to another fear, the fear of looking foolish to others.

One of the worlds most successful people was once asked how he got to be successful. His answer… “I made more mistakes than anyone else!” He was prepared to see what worked and if it didn’t, he would modify his response until he hot what he wanted.

Behavioural Flexibility

I was awoken one night to hear the soft sound of pitter-patter of tiny feet, then a pause followed by a soft splat. This went on for a few minutes before curiosity overcame me. There was a tiny mouse climbing up onto the bedside cabinet. Unable to climb the wall, the mouse took a big jump and landed back on the floor. Apparently, the mouse had fallen from the ceiling and was trying desperately to get back to the safety of it’s nest. That poor mouse just kept trying to jump back up to it’s nest but to no avail.
